Top Photos:
Both photos are examples
of improper installation of the Hot Water Heater vent pipe.
Left: Vent is too short... will not draft.
Right: Vent is too close to
combustable material.
Bottom Photos: These two photos are both
examples of water penatration waiting to happen. The vent
pipe flashing is on top of the shingles instead of underneath, and
the staples used to hold down the bottom edge will allow water to
enter the attic. The cracked shingle is on New construction
that is missing the felt paper underneath. Both on the same
house, from a National builder claiming best in town
quality.
